5 Points Art Gallery + Studios opens its summer cycle Friday, June 27, 2025, 6-9 p.m. with new knockout art in This Is America 2025. This 7th annual invitational exhibition hits hard, attacking, counter-punching and correcting popular and nuanced the social and political commentaries of our time. Steadfast and true to all artistic forms, This is America remains a group exhibition that curates critical and unfiltered visual and multimedia art by and for artists of color to explore, narrate, display and create dialogue around their diverse lived experiences, observations and cultural associations with the United States of America.

Wisconsin-based, national, and international, This Is America’s exhibiting artists represent expansive territories, identities, languages, cultures, artistic approaches and influences. Capturing the most vulnerable moments as well as challenging the most debated and divisive topics, works on display are equally diverse in content and technique. From photographic and film documentation, animated, woven and wood-etched diaries, conceptual concepts, repurposed and reimagined materials— wearable and collaged compositions, to oil, acrylic and mixed-media paintings and home illustrations and installations giving visibility to effaced human and places, the artists within their broad-ranging media, challenge being targets, misrepresented and the rhetorical patriotic punching bags.

Exhibiting artists include: Amal Azzam (Milwaukee, WI), Anna Menako (Milwaukee, WI), Carina Vargas-Nuñez (Chicago, IL), DJ da Artist (Baltimore, MD), Delisha McKinney (Chicago, IL), Elio Garcia (Milwaukee, WI), Fatima Laster (Milwaukee, WI), Gannon Crutcher (East Orange, NJ), Isissia Drake (Chicago, IL), Kierston Ghaznavi (Milwaukee, WI), Manny Vibez (Milwaukee, WI), mars (Milwaukee, WI), MarztheSmokeGod (Milwaukee, WI), Mirella Maria (São Paulo, Brazil), Liliet Rosa Reyes (Brooklyn, NY), Pedro Gutierrez (Milwaukee, WI), Rhonda Gatlin-Hayes (Milwaukee, WI), Roots Braga (São Paulo, Brazil), and Vitus Shell (Monroe, LA).
