A popular annual group exhibition for 5 Points Art Gallery + Studios, This Is America is an

unfiltered visual art demonstration, empowering artists of color to showcase, elevate and document their

independent truths and transgressive responses to the times and reflections on their lived American experiences.

Friday, July 1, 2022, 6-9 p.m. opens the fourth annual rendition of this critical art exhibition.

Wisconsin-based, national, and international, This Is America’s exhibiting artists represent expansive territories,

identities, languages, cultures, artistic approaches and influences. Featured works are equally diverse in scale

and subject matter, including but not limited to mixed media compositions, oil paintings, original prints,

photography, conceptual installations, sculptures, handmade books, and more; revealing and reveling in joy, pain

and the progressive and regressive currents of the moment.

Revisiting and newly exhibiting artists include: Afi Ese, Darrel M. Payne, Fatima Laster, Gannon Crutcher, George

Jordan, George Williams Jr., Michael Coppage, Paul Valadez, Pedro Vélez, Portia Cobb, Reese Bland, Rhonda

Gatlin-Hayes, Ruthie Joy, Sha’Tuon Simpson, and Taj Pollard.
