Moderated by Portia Cobb, Artist and UW-Milwaukee Professor in Film, Video, Animation and New Genres within the Peck School of the Arts, and Tiera Trammell, Artist and Filmmaker, on Thursday, October 21, 2021, 6-7:30 p.m. (CST), 5 Points Art Gallery + Studios will host the "Inner City Blues" housing forum, a conversation on the disparities in Black communities in Milwaukee.
With a focus on the rebuild of Westlawn Gardens, the panel will feature two Westlawn Gardens residents, Delicia Morris and Jackie Burrell, along other community and housing advocates. The forum will facilitate a conversation about Milwaukee neighborhoods, resources, access and what that means for the families living in the neighborhoods. The panelists will also discuss strategies on how to tackle the systemic barriers that contribute to the poor mental, physical and social health of Black communities and other communities of color.
